House destroyed in fire

By JESSE GRAHAM and VICTORIA STONE-MEADOWS

EMERGENCY services are currently at the scene of a house fire on Swansea Road, Mount Evelyn, with drivers being asked to avoid the area if possible.
Firefighters were called out to a house on fire on Swansea Road near Marne Road shortly after 8am on Friday 20 May.
Six CFA trucks from Montrose, Mooroolbark and Lilydale CFA fought the fire, which appeared to completely engulf the house, for two hours and at 10.20am the house was still smouldering.
Police were also at the fire, with Montrose-bound traffic being diverted away from the scene.
