KALORAMA Memorial Reserve is getting a makeover and it’s going to happen mid this year.
Plans for a new ball game and skate area are underway, as part of the second stage of a playground renewal project.
Yarra Ranges Council said strong community support was expressed for an older children’s play area with a place to learn to skate and play ball games.
Members of the community also expressed a desire for a place where local families could meet and socialise.
The new and improved reserve will feature basketball and soccer markings and will include a tennis ‘hit up’ wall.
The street skate elements will include a grind edge, handrail, ramp and down ledge as part of the new area.
On the Yarra Ranges Council website, users commented their concerns regarding the plan.
John Cullen said he thinks the reserve would require a small covered area with seating for a place to shelter from sun or rain.
“Painting a skating oval on is better than defining basketball ball court markings,” Mr Cullen said.
