Have your say, Lilydale

Residents, clubs, businesses and community groups are being called on to help design and get involved in the future of Lilydale, with a major event to be held in mid-September.
The Lilydale Summit will be held on Thursday 21 September from 2am to 9pm at Box Hill Institute’s Lilydale Lakeside Campus’s LA Building on Jarlo Drive.
Yarra Ranges Mayor, Noel Cliff, said the event would bring together members of the community to discuss ideas for the future of the town, with developments on the horizon.
“We’re in a unique situation with Lilydale, where there are numerous changes ahead, including the planning of the Cavehill Estate, and the possibilities of a bypass for Lilydale and the removal of the Maroondah Highway level crossing,” Cr Cliff said.
“We want to use this opportunity to hear from residents, young people and visitors about what the future of Lilydale looks like to them, so we can help to make that happen.
“What are the burning issues, and how can we work together on our goals and big ideas to make Lilydale the best place it can be for everyone?
“If you have something you love about Lilydale, something you’d like to get involved in or something you’d like to see changed, come along with your feelings and ideas and give us your feedback.”
Ideas from the summit will be used to inform future community planning around Lilydale.
The Lilydale Summit will feature a drop-in and feedback session from 2-5pm, followed by networking and browsing from 5.30-6pm and a summit from 6-9pm, including refreshments.
Residents will also be able to raise their ideas through pop-ups around Lilydale, where council officers Nigel and Santha will gather feedback and talk about the summit.
These will be hosted at Coles supermarket on Anderson Street from 4-7pm on Thursday, 3 August; at Lilydale Marketplace on Hutchinson Street from 11am-2pm on Saturday, 5 August and at Bunnings on Main Street from 10am-1pm on Sunday, 6 August.
To RSVP for the event email s.press@yarraranges.vic.gov.au or call 1300 368 333.
