A Lilydale man will pay a hefty fee to get his car back after allegedly drink-driving and speeding by 80km/h in Chirnside Park.
Police intercepted the 45-year-old on Paynes Road about 11pm on Thursday 12 July after allegedly detecting him travelling at 151 kilometres an hour in a 70 zone.
Officers said he returned a positive preliminary breath test and they took him to a police station, where he returned an alleged blood alcohol concentration of .172 per cent.
They suspended his licence for 12 months and impounded his car at a cost of $1017.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink-driving and speeding offences.
