Monbulk Junior Footy

The Hawks are still in the hunt for the finals, with three teams working towards what will be hard-fought games this coming Sunday.

The Monny Hawks under-14 boys, under-14 girls and under-16 boys are working towards a flag.

Under-11s

Woori Yallock 6.9.45 d Monbulk 2.1.13

The side played another strong game.

It was pushed around in places but contested with effort and scored a couple of goals.

Best: Rylan Kay, Jack Cotter, Alex Moore-Dennis, Monty Pithouse.

Under-12s

Wesburn 4.2.26 d Monbulk 2.0.12

The boys played well in the first quarter and kicked the first two goals.

It was a hard slog from there and the opposition’s better players were just too good on the day.

Best: Abel Teese, Todd Mackay, Jacob Defina, Ford Thomas-Tatti.

Under-14 Blue

Monbulk 7.8.50 d Olinda 1.2.8

The first final saw us up against an opponent that pushed us all the way in our last encounter.

A complete focus on the first quarter was our aim and that certainly set up the rest of the game.

Best: Nick Taylor, Logan Bright, Coby Passingham, Ben Smith, Riley Finlay, Mac Rouget.

Under-14 girls

Worowa 8.19.58 d Monbulk 3.2.20

The side had one final home and away game before their finals series.

The girls were lucky to have enough numbers to fill a side due to injuries.

Worowa was very clean with its skills and fast on the field, which meant Monbulk played chase for most of the game.

Hopefully most of the girls will be back to play in the side’s first final next weekend.

Best: Charlie Bakker, Hannah Koolstra, Lexi Ratcliffe, Rihanna Kelly.

Under-16

Monbulk 10.10.70 d Olinda 6.5.41

Olinda was tough at stoppages and it forced the Hawks to lift their work rate.

The side tried to stick to its team structures and the wind made that tough, but worked hard to the last siren.

Under-18 girls

Blackburn 7.4.46 d Monbulk 2.6.18

This was the side’s first ever final and despite the final result the girls played their hearts out and had a really good crack at it.

A fantastic last quarter was a great way to end the season and the improvement from each girl was outstanding.

Best: Steph, Bec O, Indy B, Shayla F.
