Parks Victoria is encouraging people to visit gardens in the Dandenong Ranges this spring.
Parks Victoria area chief ranger Craig Albiston said visitors came from far and wide to see the floral displays in the hills.
“We know from research that time spent in parks is good for our physical, mental, social and spiritual health,” he said.
Parks Victoria manages seven gardens in the region, including the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden filled with rhododendrons and azaleas that bloom until November.
Other gardens include the George Tindale Memorial Garden, Pirianda Garden, Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden, William Ricketts Sanctuary, RJ Hamer Arboretum and Mount Dandenong Arboretum.
The gardens are open daily and entry is free of charge.
