Thugs attacked a Mount Evelyn man and his friend in East Melbourne, causing serious facial injuries and a suspected broken arm.
Police released mobile phone footage of the Thursday 6 September incident in the hopes of identify those responsible.
Investigators said the victims, a 45-year-old Mount Evelyn man and a 61-year-old Rosebud man, were walking along Wellington Parade about 12.10am when three men approached.
They said a verbal altercation took place and the trio then physically assaulted the victims.
They punched the Rosebud man to the head about 17 times before stomping on him.
Police said the thugs then fled the scene on foot and were last seen running towards Clarendon Street and the Fitzroy Gardens.
Witnesses filmed the assault, and a passer-by helped the pair.
The Rosebud man suffered serious facial injuries while doctors were treating the Mount Evelyn man for a suspected broken arm.
Police urged the three men filmed to hand themselves in.
They’re described as Caucasian and one was wearing Richmond Football Club clothing.
