The Fire Danger Period is officially only weeks away for the Yarra Ranges.
The summer fire restrictions will start on Monday 19 November.
No burning off will be permitted without a permit from this date, and Cockatoo Rural Fire Brigade said police would take a zero tolerance approach to breaches.
