Mixed results for junior Monbulk footballers

It was also a mixed bag of wins and losses for the Monbulk Junior Football Club over the weekend, with a typical day of Melbourne, sun, rain, wind, freezing cold, sun and more rain.

Under 9s

Monbulk played Emerald and Wandin on Friday night at Monbulk. It was their first home game for the season, and everyone was rapt to be playing in front of their home crowd. The boys have been playing in set positions over the last three weeks which has given them an opportunity to focus on an area of the ground per week.

The best four quarters of footy played all year, with the intent to keep improving throughout the year.

Under 1’s

Another away game with poor weather conditions the team pushed with a winning goal in the dying seconds. For 80 per cent of the game the ball was in Monbulk’s forward line just struggling to find the big sticks. Overall, very proud of the team sitting on top of the ladder undefeated is a great feeling.

Monbulk 3.10.28 V Emerald 3.6.24

Eamon Dawson. Caedmon Duke. River Sangster. Jonah Van Seter. Jackson Kanter. Harry Arnott.

Under 15s

It was a great contest for the Under 15 boys, matching up well but struggling to apply scoreboard pressure. The tram still needs to improve their marking and intensity around the contest.

Monbulk 1.5.11 V Wesburn 7.8.50

Charlie Seamer. Ryder Koelewyn. Lucas Hickinbotham. Andrie Sankey. Luke Dickason. Will Heap.

Under 16 Girls

The girls were excited about the possibilities that lay ahead for this game. The girls were fierce around the contact but struggled to make the most of their forward entries. Creating space around the ball will also be a focus moving forward. Despite this, Monbulk had some stand-out individual efforts and the girls remained positive.

Monbulk 1.6.12 V Wesburn 3.1.19

Kate. Paz. Emma. Tanesha. Maddi.

Under 1’s

For all but the final siren, the boys were ahead. They were right to feel disappointed, but I know they understand where they are at in their development.

Monbulk 6.4.43 V Seville 6.7.43

Kody. Finn. Abel. Jesse. Josh Smith. Monty.
