Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck in Emerald.

Paramedics were called to the collision on Lawsons Road at around 4.05pm on Wednesday 11 August.

The man sadly passed away while being transported to hospital. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the truck, a 72-year-old Emerald man, was uninjured and remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

To date, 136 lives have been lost on Victorian roads. There were 135 lives lost in 2020.
