Dandenong Ranges Steiner School celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday 8 September, with more than 150 attendees reflecting on the school’s beginning and progress.

The event involved a reunion of past students, staff and parents, with live music performances from both past and current students.

Two students from the very first ‘Class One’ in 2000, Koko Watanabe, now a government solicitor and Tara Holden, an environmental consultant, shared their memories of the school.

Business manager Cath Lanigan said it was a special occasion for all involved.

“It was really heartwarming to see so many people come together to see the school celebrate its 25 years,” she said.

“It was lovely to see past students speak about their Steiner education and how much it meant to them.”

Founded in 1990, the school’s first location was front room of a parent’s house with just 8 students, before moving to the Menzies Creek Hall and then relocating to the property across the road, which is now the Early Childhood Campus.

The Primary campus was established in 2007, after the school purchased a Melbourne Water property adjacent to Cardinia Reservoir Parklands.

Since 2007, the school has built six classrooms and has more than 150 students in the primary school, with the school also offering a kindergarten and five playgroups.
