Alleged speeding and drink driving on the Eastern Freeway

Nunawading Highway Patrol officers have impounded a car after it was detected allegedly speeding on the Eastern Freeway last night.

Officers detected a black Audi A4 allegedly travelling at 137km/h in a 100km/h speed zone, near the Chandler Highway exit about 9.40pm.

The car was intercepted and the driver, a 41-year-old man from Menzies Creek, underwent a preliminary breath test.

He then returned an alleged evidentiary reading of 0.139.

The man’s licence was immediately suspended and the Audi was impounded.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic offences.
