Upwey South Primary School has received a significant upgrade from the State Government, with new improvements to its facilities.
This is part of a broader initiative to enhance schools across Victoria and support students in achieving better learning outcomes.
Monbulk Member Daniela De Martino, announced that Upwey South Primary School was one of 58 schools to receive part of a $25 million funding boost.
Ms De Martino said she’s excited about the project and its positive impact on the school community.
“I’m so pleased that students at Upwey South Primary School will soon benefit from these upgrades. It’s another example of how the Labor Government is supporting our schools and giving children the best chance to succeed,” she said.
This money was used for small-scale upgrades, including repairs to bathrooms, playgrounds, and fences.
Upwey South Primary School received $498,685 to upgrade its student toilets, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve local schools.
“The Labor Government is committed to giving children the learning spaces they deserve. These upgrades will help ensure that students at Upwey South Primary School have a modern and comfortable environment,” Ms De Martino said.
Over the past 10 years, the Labor Government has spent $16.9 billion on building new schools and upgrading more than 2000 existing ones – this has created over 26,000 jobs in construction and related industries.
The government has also committed to opening 100 new schools by 2026.
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) will begin working with the selected schools in early 2025, with all renovations expected to be completed by May 2026.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll, stressed the importance of modern facilities for all students.
“Every student deserves world-class facilities. We will keep investing in school renovations to meet the needs of every child,” Mr Carroll said.
“Every family wants the best education for their kids in the best facilities. Our investment in schools is making a real difference for communities across Victoria.”
The renovation work at Upwey South Primary School will start in early 2025, with all work expected to be finished by May 2026.
