KNOX Theatre Company (KTC) will return to its roots next month as the curtain is raised on its hilarious play, Run for Your Wife.
After more than eight years, the KTC has returned to performing in Knox.
The theatre company will present Ray Cooney’s comedy Run for Your Wife at the Knox Community Arts Centre on Wednesday 9 May.
After presenting a wide variety of productions at other venues throughout the region, KTC has decided to return to its roots.
Director Jill Hiam said that the theatre group had an affinity with the Knox Community Arts Centre and for more than two decades had produced some memorable plays there.
However, Ms Hiam said after experimenting with other venues, it was now time to return home.
“We’ve enjoyed experimenting with different venues but we have now come full circle and are thrilled to be back performing in Knox,” she said.
“The cast and crew are very excited to perform this wonderful farce at this excellent venue and welcome our loyal audience members as well as, hopefully, many newcomers.”
The play follows the exploits of a taxi driver who gets away with having two wives in different areas of London because of his irregular work schedule.
However, complications emerge as the cabby tries to manage his double life.
Ms Hiam said she chose the script because it was a popular farce that she’d always wanted to tackle.
“Ray Cooney has a certain way of writing that is brilliant,” she said.
“We have performed his plays before and they have always been loved by our audiences.”
But Ms Hiam said the challenge of this play was finding a cast which understood the farce depicted in the script.
“I’ve been lucky enough to cast a top team who are working extremely well,” she said.
Cast members include Mark Hardy, Jade Jennings, Daniel Lawrie, Steve Mangan, Scott Russell, Christine Simmonds and Rachel Thresher.
Foothills people should not miss this side-splitting comedy which starts at 8.15pm.
Other shows are on Thursday 10, Friday 11, Tuesday 15, Wednesday, 16 and Thursday, 17 May.
There will be a matinee show on Sunday 11 May from 2.30pm.
The Knox Community Art Centre is on the corner of Mountain Highway and Scoresby Road, Bayswater.
Tickets are now on sale and cost $20 for adults, $18 for concession cardholders, and discounts are available for group bookings of 10 or more people.
