MACCLESFIELD Primary School students last week displayed their business skills at the school’s enterprise day and twilight market.
For the past few months grade five and six students have been researching and producing a product to sell.
The enterprise day involves the students thinking of a product and marketing it under a business name.
Teacher Diane Ashcroft said the students interviewed the school community to find out what sort of products were popular.
“The students then think of a product, market it and produce the product to sell at a twilight market,” she said.
Ms Ashcroft said the students also had to produce financial reports on their products, including any profit or losses and their expenditure details.
The enterprise market day has been running for the past three years and has been well received by the local community and the students.
Ms Ashcroft said the funds raised from the market were split in half, with part of the money going towards the grade six graduation dinner and the other half sent to the school’s adopted World Vision child Ronald Ssenvuya.
