SOCCER will soon be bringing people of all abilities together in Yarra Ranges, and everyone is invited to take part.
This year, Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club and Doveton Special Soccer School are mixing things up and will be combining their teams to play two special all ability soccer matches.
Yarra Ranges mayor Jim Child said he was delighted by the progress that Yarra Ranges sporting clubs had made over the last 12 months to increase participation for residents of all abilities.
“Sport is such an important part of life, both when you’re younger and grown up. Sport teaches us not only the importance of exercise, but values that transcend sport including working in a team, and good sportsmanship,” he said.
“Given how crucial sport is in all our lives, and the values it teaches us we all have a responsibility to make sure sport is accessible to people of all abilities, by organising events such as this.
“The aim of the event is to encourage your participation in soccer, to demonstrate that everyone can play soccer regardless of their ability and above all to have fun.”
The matches will take place on Thursday 4 April, one from 11am and one from 1pm, at Monbulk Recreation Reserve on Moores Road.
Those looking to take part can contact Hans Damen from Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club on 048 315 710.
