Their bit for cancer

By VICTORIA STONE-MEADOWS

MOUNT Evelyn community groups and residents turned out to the Scout Hall on Station Street on Thursday 19 May to raise money for the Cancer Council.
The Biggest Morning Tea in Mount Evelyn was hosted by the Mount Evelyn Chamber of Commerce and attended by local business people, political leaders and community groups.
Yarra Ranges Councillor Maria McCarthy said it was a great event and was pleased to see so many people turn out to fund-raise for the cancer council.
“The morning went really well,” she said.
“It was a great community effort by the chamber and the local Bendigo Bank with the community and local business really getting behind the chamber.”
The morning tea had all kinds of treats supplied by local businesses with a barista from Billy Goat Hill Brasserie and scones with jam and cream provided by the Mount Evelyn Bakery.
