Snow Leopard on Yarra Ranges roads

Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol is running Operation Snow Leopard.

It will continue into November and will focus on road safety and enforcement within the shire and on roads leading into the area.

In addition to normal highway patrol and enforcement activities, police will concentrate on speeding motorists, vehicle safety offences, and alcohol and drug testing.

Police will issue defect notices to drivers with vehicles found with poor tyres or other safety issues. Unlicensed or banned drivers will be prosecuted accordingly.

Police reminded drivers that the minimum penalty for speeding was set at $201 and incurred one demerit point.

They urged everyone to drive safely and within the speed limits and take regular breaks if travelling long distances.

Drivers should take a few moments to check over their vehicle’s tyres, lights, and more prior to going away, too.
