Ferntree Gully man arrested

A Ferntree Gully man was among two arrested over a bungled chemist break-in.

Police were called to the Bourke Street, Melbourne, store about 8.50pm on Monday 26 November to reports that two men had allegedly tried to steal some items.

It’s alleged one of the men produced a knife and assaulted a security guard after being confronted.

The security guard sustained minor injuries.

The pair fled the store empty-handed.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Ferntree Gully man and 22-year-old Burwood man on Elizabeth Street a short time later.

They were assisting police with their inquiries. The investigation is ongoing.
