Be grateful

Upper Ferntree Gully’s own Mrs Claus is shining a light on gratitude this Christmas.

Bernadette Dimitrov, aka Mrs Claus, just finished a Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, and will be teaching gratitude at Santa Claus Peace School.

She says gratitude is the real magic behind jolly elves and Santa himself.

“It appears to be a message we are finally getting as study after study now confirms how gratitude rewires our brain for positivity, better health, better relationships, more fulfilment and happiness in life,” Mrs Claus said.

She said it was a gift that kept on giving.

“You just have to choose to practice it,” she said.

“Apparently gratitude-spotting amongst the elves is their favourite pass time activity at the North Pole.”

Mrs Claus is encouraging everyone to make their New Year’s resolution gratitude-spotting.

“Start with the closest people to you and spot at least one thing a day you are grateful for about that person and share it with them,” she said.

“If you want to transform your relationships at home, work and out in the community, practice gratitude.

“It changes our brain and our neurotransmitters and we naturally become kinder to each other, and makes us better in all aspects of our life because it helps to turn off the grinch inside us: the complaining, negative, fearful one.

“It’s a game-changer and a Christmas bio-hack.”
