HERE ME youth arts project is about teenagers exploring misconceptions and stereotypes held about young people.
The project’s aim is to give teenagers an opportunity to be seen and heard in their community, and Ms Kayler believes there are not enough opportunities for young people to creatively and effectively have a voice within their communities.
Local artist and secondary teacher Dani-Ela Kayler is running the HERE ME workshops, which invites young people aged 13-18 years old to share and interact with their community.
The project runs in the first week of the Easter school holidays, with workshops taking place on Wednesday 10, 11 and 12 April, from 11.30am-4pm .
The Workshops will build up and culminate in a flash mob event that will take place in the streets of Belgrave on Saturday 13 April sometime between 10am-1pm.
The Here Me Workshops will also include group discussions exploring ideas, drama-based activities, learning contact improvisation skills and checking out the public and hidden spaces of Belgrave.
No drama, dance or performance experience is necessary, only a willingness to participate, says Mr Kayler
She said the workshops are an opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, have a voice and share opinions and ideas.
