Ruffin’ it

Over 550 pet-owners and their beloved dogs turned out to the Wandin Park Equestrian Centre for the annual Adventure Dog event on Sunday 7 April.

Nicknamed ‘rough mudder,’ participants and their dogs were mentally and physically challenged by 25 obstacles spread over almost 4km.

From jelly baths to mud baths, there was a wide range of unique obstacles for pet owners and their dogs to get through.

Animal Aid Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Tracey Pratt said that this was one of the biggest events yet, and they had already made plans to run Adventure Dog again, next year.

“It is now Animal Aids largest fundraising event and we’ve already got next year’s date organised so be sure to pop the 17th May in your diaries,” she said.

We were overwhelmed with the support from the community with people coming from near and far for the event, and of course all the proceeds go to helping us care for animals in need.

While, by the end of the course many owners were looking a little bedraggled, for their dogs the event was a dream come true and ‘Mail’ photographer Greg Carrick was on-hand to capture all those happy smiling good ‘boys’.
