A new social and affordable housing group is coming to Cardinia and looking for members.
Applications are open to the community.
The group will help to implement Cardinia Shire Council’s Social and Affordable Housing Strategy and Action Plan (2018-2025).
Those with an interest in social and affordable housing are encouraged to apply, including people with lived experience of homelessness; housing providers and associations; community and volunteer services; and property, building and development sector representatives.
Successful applicants will join the advisory steering group, which will look at ways to support housing diversity and respond to housing needs within the community.
The group will have 13 members including appointed councillors and council staff.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Graeme Moore said that as the shire continued to grow rapidly, its population and housing stock was expected to more than double by 2031.
He said the action plan and partnership group’s aims were to ensure that Cardinia
included diverse, high-quality, sustainable and affordable housing.
Cr Moore said that housing should be responsive to the growing and diverse community’s needs.
Expressions of interest to join the social and affordable housing partnership group close at noon on Tuesday 11 June.
