Yarra Ranges CIU detectives are appealing for public help following a burglary and theft in Lilydale.
Investigators have been told a man attended a hardware store on Main Street about 5pm on Monday 20 May.
He selected a number of power tools and other items before placing them in a basket.
The man then took the basket to an outdoor area, hid the items and left the store.
It’s believed that he returned about 3am on 21 May in a white ute, forced the rear gate, entered the property and collected the secreted items before returning to his vehicle and driving off.
The alleged thief is described as Caucasian and 35 to 40 years old with a medium build, balding head and a soul patch.
Detectives released an image of a man they believe could assist with their inquiries.
