Car impounds over school hooning

A police photo from the scene.

Police filmed three alleged hoons tearing up a school car park before impounding their cars and issuing fines.

Lilydale Police received information about vehicles doing burnouts at the Mount Evelyn Yarra Hills Secondary College campus.

The first members on the scene took video of three vehicles as they waited for back up.

The video allegedly shows the drivers doing burnouts, revving engines and spinning tyres on the grass and gravel car park of the school.

Once back-up arrived, police blocked off all exit points and apprehended three people.

They impounded all three vehicles for 30 days.

They issued a 19-year-old man from Montrose and a 20-year-old man from Lilydale, both probationary level one drivers, with fines for $1280.

The officers fined a 23-year-old man from Kilsyth, a learner driver, $1006.10.
