Awards for local champions

We all know someone who always goes the extra mile to build a stronger community.

The parent at the local sporting club that stays back week in and week out to clean up and prepare post-game snacks for the players.

The volunteer who runs the extra training session or class so more people in the community can participate.

The school student who in their own time, instead of being on Instagram or Snapchat, is working with members in the community to implement a new initiative.

The neighbour who raises money and awareness for a local cause and the individual in the community who volunteers at multiple clubs and organisations.

However they contribute, we want to celebrate them.

We want to celebrate those in our community who put in the extra hours.

Often despite raising a family, working and dealing with the everyday challenges life throws at them, they still find the time to build a stronger community.

On 1 October I am hosting the inaugural Gembrook Community Awards and I am calling on the Gembrook electorate to nominate their local champion.

Nominations are now open for people of all ages who live in and actively participate in local groups in the Gembrook electorate.

Your local champion could be a local sporting champion, a community ambassador, a fighter for the environment or a local volunteer making lives better.

For more information and to nominate your local champion, head to bradbattin.com.au and fill in the nomination form.

Nominations are open until 30 August, so get in quick to avoid missing out.

We are extremely lucky to have so many who contribute to our local community and we should ensure their efforts in shaping our community are celebrated.

Please do not hesitate to contact my office on 5953 0216 if you have any inquiries and I look forward to celebrating our local champions in October.
