Total Fire Ban declared

A day of Total Fire Ban has been declared for central and western parts of the state tomorrow (31 January).

Regions impacted include Mallee, Wimmera, South West, Northern Country, North Central and Central (includes Melbourne and Geelong).

No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01am on Friday 31 January until 11:59pm Friday 31 January.

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting the temperature in Melbourne to reach 41 degrees with east to northeasterly winds reaching 15 to 20 km/h in the morning.

Winds are expected to shift northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h in the early afternoon then southeast to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening.
