Flood warning issued for Yarra Ranges

A Flood Watch has been issued for the Yarra River over the next 24 hours, with most towns in the Yarra Ranges impacted.

Vic Emergency released the warning about midday 28 April.

A strong cold front will cross waters south of the Bight during Tuesday before moving across Victoria during Wednesday, bringing rain.

Catchments are moderately wet following recent rain. The Yarra River catchment may receive 15-35mm.

With forecast rainfall, river rises are likely and minor to moderate flooding may develop across the flood watch area from late Wednesday.

Impacted towns include, but are not limited to, Avonsleigh, Beenak, Cockatoo, Don Valley, Emerald, Gembrook, Hoddles Creek, Kallista, Launching Place, Macclesfield, Millgrove, Monbulk, Powelltown, Sassafras, Seville, Seville East, The Patch, Wandin East, Wesburn, Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction, Yellingbo, Clematis, Coldstream, Gruyere, Healesville, Menzies Creek, Olinda, Selby, Sherbrooke, Silvan, Wandin North and Warburton.

The next update is expected by about midday 29 April.

Residents should stay informed, monitor local conditions and stay alert.
