Covid fragments in hills wastewater

Viral fragments of the Covid-19 virus were detected in wastewater across the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley on 25 February.

Residents and visitors to Mount Evelyn, Montrose, Mount Dandenong, Olinda and Kalorama from February 23 are urged to get tested after viral fragments were detected in the inlet to the Lilydale wastewater treatment plant.

Those who have visited the Yarra Valley, specifically the towns of Lilydale, Chirnside Park, Coldstream, Yarra Glen and Yering are also urged to get tested if even the mildest of symptoms develop.

There are no current cases of Covid-19 in these areas.

Expanded testing is available today at the following:

• EACH Yarra Junction – 2468 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction between 10.30am and 3pm.

• EACH Lilydale – 18-22 Lakeview Drive, Lilydale between 1pm and 4pm.

• Croydon Drive Through Testing Facility – 321 Mt Dandenong Rd, Croydon between 10am and 5pm.
