The Lilydale level crossing removal project will see a number of additional works starting this week as of Monday 12 April.
Commuters are being warned of some potential road closures and changes to the access of some roads near Lilydale station.
Installation of drainage systems will be conducted on William Street East and West, as well as Maroondah Highway from 12 April until 10 May.
William Street East will be closed for up to two days between Monday 19 April and Friday 23 April but specific days have not been confirmed.
Access to William Street East will also be closed at Maroondah Highway for those wanting to turn left.
Motorists will, however, be able to turn right onto Maroondah Highway from the Main Street service lane during this time.
Lane closures can also be expected for Maroondah Highway.
Business owners, commuters and visitors should be advised that construction noise and vibration may increase throughout the course of these works.
The nature of these works include piling pad construction within the rail corridor on the corner of John Street and William Street West, concrete pours for the bridge foundation, concrete demolition and installation of in ground station services.
Machinery including large rigs, cranes, trucks and vibratory rollers will be used to install and compact the earth throughout these stages of the works.
Train-goers should note the Western carpark at Lilydale station will have changes made to the pedestrian access and movement of pedestrians but the carpark access will remain open.
All works are planned for normal construction hours between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm on Saturday.
