Chirnside Park residents are expressing their outrage on social media after being advised at the eleventh hour that a kangaroo cull will take place tonight.
A statement posted to social media on behalf of the Heritage Golf and Country Club reads:
“We have engaged Dave Rowland from Procull Solutions who has the necessary approvals to attend (the) complex for contracted cull of kangaroos. He is well versed on the area and works with many local farmers. He also has all the necessary accreditations and insurances and is well known and regarded in local and state government bodies.
“Dave and his team will be in attendance at the complex on Tuesday 27 April from 9pm and will conclude at 3am.
The statement warns residents “it is in their best interests not to be out after dark whilst shooting takes place” this evening.
The post has prompted anger at the lack of notice, with some residents pointing out on social media that the timing may leave some ignorant of the planned shoot.
Others have vowed to enlist the help of Animal Justice Party member Andy Meddick MP.
