An Emerald woman, along with her two kelpies, is aiming to raise $1,000 for Guide Dogs Australia this month.

Tracy-Ann Eadie and her fur babies Frank and Dusty have walked for at least 30 minutes every day in August as part of the Pawgust challenge run by Guide Dogs Australia.

“I read up about how much money it costs to raise a guide dog and its thousands and thousands of dollars,” Tracy-Ann said.

“They’re such an important part of our community.

“I don’t have anyone who needs one but if I did have a family member or friend I’d want them to be able to have one.”

So rain, hail or shine, Tracy-Ann, Frank and Dusty set out for a walk around Emerald in the hope to raise some money.

“It was a way to get out of the house during Covid-19,” Tracy-Ann said.

“The dogs were loving it and I don’t think I’ll get out of not continuing.”

So far, Tracy-Ann has raised $650 from friends, family and some local small businesses.

“It’s a really worthy cause and it’s been great to have the community get behind it,” Tracy-Ann said.

“The dogs have been wearing the Pawgust bandanas, so people have been stopping to ask about it so we’re raising community awareness as well.”

Donations are open until 30 September at pawgust.com.au/fundraisers/tracy-anneadie.
