Brendan Searle charged following Boronia incident

Brendan Searle has been arrested and charged by police after handing himself in.

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged Brendan Searle following an incident in Boronia last weekend where a firearm was allegedly discharged at police.

Searle surrendered himself to police at the Victoria Police Centre on Spencer Street about 4.40pm on Tuesday 9 November.

He was interviewed and charged with twelve offences including:

• Discharge a firearm reckless to safety of a police officer (x2)

• Assault police indictable (x2)

• Reckless conduct endanger life

• Prohibited person use firearm

• Attempted aggravated carjacking

• Threat to inflict serious injury

• Commit indictable offence whilst on bail

• Contravene certain conduct conditions

• Aggravated burglary (person present)

• Unlawful assault

He will be presented to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening for a filing hearing.

A public appeal was made for information regarding Searle’s whereabouts following the incident on Boronia Road, Boronia on Saturday 6 November.
