Vaccination blitz to be held this weekend as third dose wait drops to three months

Dandenong Plaza has been named as one of the state's key vaccination sites for this weekend's vaccination booster blitz.

Dandenong Ranges and Ferntree Gully residents are now eligible to get their vital third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine after three months, in an effort from the Victorian government to increase immunity before school and work returns in full.

Premier Daniel Andrews said thousands more appointments will be available as walk-in capacity increases and opening hours are extended for a vaccination blitz this weekend.

The blitz will supported by deploying dozens of extra vaccinators and cubicles on site at key centres.

“If you got your second dose in October or earlier, now’s the time to come along to one of our major state-run centres this weekend and get your third, to protect yourself and the community for the busy year ahead,” Mr Andrews said.

The closest major centres for Dandenong Ranges and Ferntree Gully residents to receive their third dose are Dandenong Plaza and Sandown Racecourse.

Dandenong Plaza is offering walk-ups for Pfizer vaccinations from 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. The Moderna vaccine will not be available.

Sandown Racecourse is offering walk-ups for Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations from 9am to 6.30pm Saturday and Sunday.
