Planned burn in Ferny Creek

If conditions remain suitable, Forest Fire Management Victoria crews will ignite a risk reduction planned burn at Alpine Road, Ferny Creek over Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 March.

Residents in Kalorama and Lysterfield will also see smoke in their local areas with crews completing ignition and patrolling fuel reduction burns at Wilkilla Road, Kalorama and Granite Track, Lysterfield.

“We understand that smoke from planned burns may cause concern for some people, however the window that we have to conduct these planned burns is small and we must take every opportunity to burn while conditions allow and it is safe to do so to provide local communities with critical protection in the event of a bushfire.” the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning said.
