Disqualified learner caught driving on drugs

On Sunday 3 April, a 26-year-old man was detected driving at 84km/h in a 70km zone on Canterbury Road in Bayswater at 10.20pm.

Police said the man initially failed to stop before he was apprehended after driving down a dead-end street and attempting to flee on foot.

The man was found to have a suspended learner permit license and he returned a positive result of illicit drugs.

His vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days and he will face court for multiple charges including failing to stop on police direction, driving as a learner unaccompanied, driving while suspended, breaching an alcohol interlock condition, speeding and drug driving.

Police said he faces a long stretch off the road if convicted.
