A grandmother has won over a million dollars in TattsLotto after buying the winning ticket at an Upwey newsagency.

The Ferntree Gully resident said she would give the entire $1,114,916 division one winnings to her family.

“I’m in so much shock. Thank you very much! I’m bloody glad about this. I never register my ticket, so I didn’t find out until last night,” she said.

“I scanned my ticket so many times because it just seemed so shocking. I made my kids check it as well.”

The woman purchased the ticket at Upwey Newsagency, located at 18 Main Street Upwey.

Upwey Newsagency owners Peter and Helen Raupach said it was a fantastic surprise.

“It’s been a while since we’ve had a division one win, so we were very excited. We’re hoping this is the start of a major prize-winning streak,” Mr Raupach said.

“We’re delighted for our winner and would love to send her our congratulations. We hope it changes her life for the better.”

Ms Raupach said wins like this generate so much positivity.

“We’ve been sharing the news with all our customers and they’re so happy for the winner,” she said.

“They’re hoping they’re next to win division one!”

The Ferntree Gully grandmother’s winning numbers on Saturday 28 May were 32, 17, 15, 33 and 28 while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 2.

When Tattslotto called the woman to congratulate her, she said her kids bought her a bottle of Moet to celebrate.

“We’ve been through a really tough time over the years, so this means so much to us all. I can’t explain how life-changing this is, but it changes everything for us,” she said.

“I want to use my prize to help my kids and my grandkids. I want to make sure they have absolutely everything they need in life.

“The kids said Mum, this prize is for you to spoil yourself but it’s not, it’s for them. That’s what is important to me, making sure they’re all looked after.”
