The Victorian State Government has awarded Burrinja Cultural Centre $147,000 to complete the dehumidification of its gallery spaces through the regional collections access program.

The funding was awarded to allow Burrinja to display more of their Aboriginal and Pacific Island art and artefacts and “increasing loans from state and national institutions.”

Minister for Creative Industries Danny Person said the funding would help attract more touring exhibitions and introduce people to regional Victoria.

“Victoria’s regional galleries and museums are among the best in the country, attracting tourists and jobs to vibrant cities and towns while preserving and showcasing precious cultural artefacts,” he said.

“This funding will help attract more touring exhibitions to regional Victoria and introduce more people to our incredible regional collections.”

Burrinja Cultural Centre was established in 1998 offering locals and visitors access to Dandenong Ranges arts, cultural and environmental experiences.

The Centre is located at Wurundjeri Country, 351 Glenfern Road Upwey.
