Nominations now open for Yarra Ranges Australia Day awards

Applications are now open for Yarra Ranges Council’s 2023 Australia Day Awards, with residents being encouraged to nominate people who are doing amazing work in their community.

Yarra Ranges Mayor Cr Jim Child said the annual awards give people the chance to formally recognise the outstanding work of individuals within the Yarra Ranges.

“There are so many people in the Yarra Ranges who give back so much to their community, and the Australia Day Awards are a great opportunity for them to be congratulated and celebrated,” Cr Child said.

“We’d love to receive as many nominations as we can to highlight anyone who is making a positive impact in our region.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to thank and pay tribute to those who go above and beyond to make the Yarra Ranges a better place to live.”

The categories for the Australia Day Awards in 2023 are:

• Citizen of Year – above 26 years of age (at 26 January 2023)

• Young Citizen of the Year – under the age of 26 (at 26 January 2023)

• Environmental Achiever of the Year

• Ken McIntosh Memorial Award (Young Environmental Achiever) – under the age of 26 (at 26 January 2023)

• Community Group of the Year

• Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award – selected by the Mayor and peers

• Ian De La Rue Award for Community Leadership –selected by the Mayor and peers

Residents can make a nomination by submitting a form at https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Community/Australia-Day-Awards-nominations-2023

Nominations close Friday 2 December at 5.00pm.
