Cardinia Shire Council is welcoming community members to march behind the Cardinia Shire banner at this year’s Midsumma Pride March in St Kilda on Sunday 5 February 2023.
The march, now in its 28th year, will commence from Ian Johnson Oval and take a one-kilometre route along Fitzroy Street in St Kilda.
The Cardinia Shire marching group will be assembling at the marshalling area on the oval from 11am.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Tammy Radford encouraged locals to join the celebrations and show their support for our LGBTIQ+ community alongside family, friends, and partners.
“Council’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging for all people within our shire. Demonstrating our support for our LGBTIQ+ community is something we’re proud of and attending this event each year is one way we can do this,” the Mayor said.
“We are very proud to be able to march together with our local community and the broader Victorian community, reaffirming our commitment year on year.
“I am proud to live in such a vibrant and inclusive community. Council holds that everyone has a right to feel safe, respected and secure within our society, regardless of how we may express and identify ourselves as individuals.”
Following the march, the celebrations will continue at Catani Gardens, with participants able to enjoy afternoon festivities.
“We would love to see a strong body of walkers representing the Cardinia Shire,” the Mayor added.
“All our LGBTIQ+ community and friends, parents, family and supporters are very welcome to walk with us.”
