Cardinia Shire Council is encouraging community members to volunteer to help clean up properties affected by the June 2021 storms.
This severe weather event caused considerable damage in some parts of our shire, and several of our residents are still in need of help with moving storm debris from their properties. These residents face additional barriers to undertaking their own property clean up including disability, health, unemployment or financial constraints.
Cardinia Shire Council has been working in partnership with Yarra Ranges Council, Habitat for Humanity Australia and Treasuring Our Trees to continue to support local communities affected by the storms, with help from state government funding.
Working with a team of other generous residents, volunteers would be helping with tasks including clearing storm debris, splitting and stacking wood using automatic wood splitter, and repairing fences.
Volunteer days run from 9am until 3.30pm on weekdays and weekends.
