Man arrested in Cockatoo after allegedly ramming police vehicle in stolen car, setting car on fire

Police have arrested a man in Cockatoo after he allegedly rammed a police vehicle in a stolen car, then set it on fire on Wednesday 21 June.

Officers spotted an allegedly stolen car on Manchester Road in Mooroolbark about 12.35pm.

It is alleged the male driver attempted to evade police, before ramming a police vehicle.

There were no injuries.

With assistance from the Air Wing, police followed the car through Montrose, Kolorama, Mount Dandenong and Emerald to Cockatoo.

The male driver came to a stop on Stringybark Road, where he allegedly set the car on fire and fled the scene on foot.

The 25-year-old Boronia man was arrested nearby and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The car was allegedly stolen from Hampton last year.
