Wet weather causes several disruptions in The Dandenongs

The stormy-wet weather has caused disruption in The Dandenongs and the Hills area, with a fallen tree causing power outages in The Patch and potential flooding precaution in Ferntree Gully.

A massive tree has fallen near the corner of Kallista-Emerald and The Patch Road at about 10.45am on Monday 15 July.

AusNet media manager Nicci de Ryk said one big tree has fallen and another one about to fall down, which cut the power and caused roadblock.

“The estimated time the power to be back on is 12.30am,” she said.

The Kallista-Emerald Road remains closed.

Another incident was listed on the Vic Emergency website and this time, a tree down in Cockatoo around 5:20pm, on Ivy Street, near Arthur Road.

SES Knox volunteers were called to assist in Ferntree Gully in the late afternoon, around 4:30pm.

SES spokesperson said the flood warning appears to be on the roadside.

“It looks like it’s a stormwater drain that has been known to be blocked previously, nothing serious at the moment, it’s more precautionary,” the SES spokesperson said.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported on neither of the three incidents.

With a wet forecast ahead, residents in The Dandeongs and the Hills are advised to stay alert and safe.
