Hills commemorate Vietnam Veterans

Gembrook, Cockatoo and Emerald RSLs joined together on a Sunday 18 August to mark Vietnam Veterans Day.

Gathering together at the Cockatoo RSL rooms, the service saw speakers from each club that all have many Vietnam veterans throughout them.

Afterward, attendees enjoyed an afternoon together with live music from veterans. Fund raising efforts were made for Guitar For Vets with many guitars being donated on the day.

Vietnam Veterans’ Day falls on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, this year marks 58 years since the day.

The anniversary commemorates the almost 60,000 Australians who served during the Vietnam War and the people the country lost during its ten years of involvement.
