This Wednesday, 11 December from 3pm to 5pm, Belgrave Library is offering a fun and creative experience for all ages with a paper mache decoration workshop.
Whether you’re looking for a family activity or a way to express your artistic side, this workshop provides the perfect opportunity to dive into a hands-on craft session.
The workshop will be hosted by local artist Donna Beswick, who is known for her eco-friendly approach to art.
Participants will have the chance to create and paint their own paper mache ornaments, which Ms Beswick has handcrafted using recycled materials.
“We’re keeping it light-hearted and fun,” she said.
“The ornaments can be whatever the kids – or adults – imagine. There’s no strict theme, so whether it’s a unicorn, an ice cream, or even something as quirky as a mushroom, everyone will have the freedom to choose their design.”
The session is open to everyone, regardless of age or skill level.
Ms Beswick has ensured that the decorations are simple enough for young children to paint, making the workshop a great activity for families.
“It’s all about creativity and having fun,” she said.
“The ornaments are pre-made, and all participants need to do is paint them, so it’s a relaxed, enjoyable experience for all.”
For less than $10, participants will be provided with everything they need – acrylic paints, brushes, and pre-formed paper mâché ornaments – so all you need to do is show up and start painting.
Best of all, you’ll get to take your creation home at the end of the session, making it a perfect way to add a personal touch to your holiday decorations, or simply create something special for your home.
Whether you’re popping in with your kids or joining in as an adult looking to enjoy a bit of creative time, there’s plenty of room for everyone.
Ms Beswick is also excited to announce she will be running additional paper mache and painting workshops in the new year for both adults and children.
