The Knox and District Woodworkers’ Club is offering young children a chance to try their hand at woodworking through its popular Kidz Korner initiative at the upcoming Knox Festival.

For many years, the club has provided children with the opportunity to assemble wooden toy kits, giving them a fun and educational experience. With the help of club members, children can glue, nail, sand, and screw the various parts of the toy kit together. Once finished, the toys – which are left in plain wood – can be taken home for painting and decorating.

This year, up to 15 different items will be available, including a robot, dinosaur, helicopter, semi-trailer, pencil case, teddy bear, and tool box.

The Kidz Korner activity will be available for a small fee at the festival on 1 March. It’s a great way to let your child experience the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.

Alongside the festival, the club also welcomes local groups such as Cubs, primary school students, and library holiday programs. These groups can visit the club’s premises in Ferntree Gully, or the club can arrange to bring the workshops to their location.

For those looking for an alternative to the regular sessions, children can also take home a kit to work on with the help of parents. This could make for a fun pre-Mother’s Day or Father’s Day activity, with options like a trinket box, pencil case, or tool box.

The Knox and District Woodworkers’ Club has been a part of the local community for over 30 years. Based on Glenfern Road, Ferntree Gully, the club is open to both men and women who are interested in woodworking.
