Take charge of your energy future with the Hills Home Battery Forum

With power outages and rising energy costs becoming an increasing concern for residents in the Dandenong Ranges, a community event aims to provide answers.

The Hills Home Battery Forum will be held on 27 October from 7.30–9pm at the Upwey Community Hall, bringing together local experts to help Hills residents explore the latest in home battery storage and electrification.

Hosted by local community group Repower the Dandenongs, the forum will unpack how federal government rebates and new technology have made home batteries more affordable than ever—helping households cut power bills, increase energy resilience, and move towards a more sustainable future.

“This event is about giving Hills homeowners the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions,” Repower the Dandenongs secretary Daniel Wurm said.

“Many residents are worried about phasing out gas, but home battery technology is a game-changer. Others are concerned that batteries may be a fire risk, or they may wonder how long it will take them to recoup the initial investment. This forum will answer those questions and more.”

Attendees will hear from local electrification and battery experts who will explain how new battery technologies and rebates can benefit local homes, why a home battery is a good investment in the Hills, how solar and batteries perform on shaded properties, and how to stay powered during outages—even when going fully electric.

The Hills Home Battery Forum is a free community event and a must for homeowners looking to reduce their reliance on the grid, lower bills, and make the Dandenongs more energy resilient.
