On Tuesday Monbulk 1 played Donvale at home.
Jim Bras’ rink dominated the game early and after 7 ends led by 12 shots. They then dropped their guard and lost 10 shots in 3 ends to be only 2 shots in front at the break. After the break the Monbulk rink lifted winning 8 of the last 11 ends to win by 9 shots, 26 to 17.
Eric Markham’s rink trailed for most of the game and were 5 shots down with 5 ends to play. They then got on a roll picking up 10 shots in the next 4 ends to win by 4 shots 17 to 13.
Peter Koomen’s rink led by 3 shots at the lunch break, but then struggled to have an impact eventually losing by 10 shots, 15 to 25. Monbulk won the overall by 3 shots, 58 to 55 and are in third position on the ladder.
Monbulk 2 journeyed to Ferntree Gully where they found the faster green difficult to handle.
Eric Furby’s rink led by 4 shots after 4 ends, but then lost the next 10 ends to trail by 15 shots and they eventually lost by 17 shots, 9 to 26. Graeme Seymour’s rink managed to win only 7 ends and picked up 6 shots on the eighteenth end, but still lost by 13 shots, 16 to 29.
Graeme Goller’s rink levelled the scores on the eleventh end and then went 4 shots clear two ends later. However, they were outplayed over the final ends to lose by 3 shots 14 to 17. Monbulk lost the overall by 33 shots, 39 to 72.
Monbulk 3 played Yarra Junction at home and were able to take maximum points winning on all rinks. Bruce Cockerill’s rink won 18 ends crushing the opposition by 30 shots, 37 to 7.
Peter Lee’s rink had a close tussle and led by 3 shots after thirteen ends. They then lost the next 4 ends to trail by 4 shots with 4 ends to play. The Monbulk rink found another level winning the final ends to record victory by 2 shots, 17 to 15.
Mike Harris’ rink followed a similar pattern finding themselves 3 shots down after fourteen ends. They then won the next 4 ends to lead by 6 shots. The Monbulk rink lost the last 3 ends, but held on to win by 2 shots, 18 to 16. Monbulk won the overall by 34 shots, 72 to 38.
