Help real smiles return

THE Gemco Players Community Theatre (GPCT) is hosting a special project helping special little souls.
The theatre group is performing Project Smile – a cabaret style comedy and song night to raise funds to help the organisation Smile.
Smile provides operations to children in overseas countries to correct disfigurements caused by a severe cleft palate.
GPCT Founder David Greenaway said often these children, through no fault of their own, suffer a life or persecution and isolation.
“The Smile organisation organises operations for as little as $45 that restores the children’s confidence to participate fully in their communities,” he said.
“Whereas before the operation they were completely ostracised and suffered a life of misery.
“Throughout the world more than 160,000 children have experienced this transformation.”
Mr Greenaway said all proceeds on the night will go directly to the organisation.
“You can bring a smile back to the kids as well as smiling yourself,” he said.
“The night will include local acts performing hilarious skits, music, song and dance performances.”
Project Smile will be performed at The Gem Theatre, 19 Kilvington Drive, Emerald, on Saturday 22 March at 7.30pm.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for concession and $10 for children and can be booked online at www.trybooking.com/ELTZ or call David on 0488 585 600.
