THE classic story of The Phantom of the Opera will be coming to Burrinja and this month with a twist on the traditional play.
Presented by The Lux Radio Theatre, this production of the classic feature will be performed as a vintage spoken-word radio play.
Complete with gorgeous gowns and charming live sound effects, this recreation of radio’s golden area will transport you back to a time of glamour and glitz.
The play is set far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, where the Phantom hides in a shadowy existence.
Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protege Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.

Before television, the entertainment highlight of the week was the Sunday night radio play where the family would gather around for a night of storytelling.
This fastidiously accurate representation lovingly recreates those days; with actors playing multiple roles, fashioning live sound effects and presenting vintage soap commercials just as they did during live audience broadcasts generations ago.
The Lux Radio Theatre will present their version of The Phantom of the Opera Burrinja Cultural Centre on Sunday 29 May from 2pm.
